Today (July 23, 2010) is National Children Day in Indonesia. There are so many problems about the children in Indonesia. Violence, drop out from school, child trafficking, poor health, discrimination, exploitation, etc. Hope National Children Day is not just an annual ceremonial. It should be taken some actions to solve the problem child.
Based on the title of this posting blog, I want to share to you from several references about our future generation, CHILDREN....
What is children?
Based on UUPA No. 23/2002, Pasal 1(1), children is a son or a daughter who has not been 18 years old, including who are still in the womb.
Child protection
Based on UUPA No. 23/2002, Pasal 1(2), child protection is all activities taht ensure and protect the children and their rights in order to live, grow, and participate optimally in accordance with the dignity of humanity, and also get protection from violence and discrimination.
Why children should be protected?
Children is one of the basic asset in achieving sustainable development which led to the existence of this child should get the fulfillment and protection, so that their development can be a generation of quality in the future. In raising a generation of qualified and efficient, and also in warding the worries about a lost generation of people (lost generation), it is needed to encourage children to eager and willing to learn, to develop himself as a person the child completely.
What can we do in protecting children?
I think children need your support and involvement. I believe that all people can actually do something to save Indonesian children from destruction. It can be started from our family environment, start listening to the opinions of children, give attention to the development and growth of children, making them become a child (not a mini adult), help to spread information about the importance of protecting the rights of children for their future and the sustainability of their development, monitoring and reporting a violation of children, or even supporting some children's rights protection program.
That's what I think about the children, especially their rights, as our future. I'm sure that you also support the children's rights. Happy National Children Day....
